The Zhashagi Process: Day #3

On Day #3, Steps 4 to 6 of the Zhashagi 6-Step to Effective Consultation approach are explored. The steps include how to assess projects, using community values identified; Introduction of Values Management Plans to manage identified values risks; Firming up Commitments between Industry and Indigenous Communities – common agreements and tools; and an overview of the Benefits of the Zhashagi Process.

On Day #2, the course begins to outline the first 3 steps to Effective Consultation. The course includes tips to ensure that capacity building is included in effective consultation between Industry and Indigenous Communities, using information sharing and Community Values risk assessment tools.

The Zhashagi Process: Day #1

The first day of the workhop includes are review of legislation related to indigenous/industry consultation requirements in Ontario. An overview of basic consultation components and processes are covered. Both industry and indigenous community expectations are explored. The "Zhashagi 6 Steps to Consultation" approach is introduced.
