We asked Lynne Rasmussen to answer a few questions to help our clients get to know her better.

While working at Rubicon Minerals, I heard through the mining grapevine that Blue Heron offered an Environmental Coordinator course. I arranged a course in Red Lake for myself and invited participants from the other Red Lake mines.
I ended up hiring Blue Heron for some additional environmental support afterwards as it was clear these folks know their stuff and have a variety of tools to help clients streamline their environmental operations.
So far it’s been the variety. As many of us work remotely (and thanks to the digital world we live in), we are able to help clients from all corners of the province. This has enabled me to work on a number of different projects and continue to grow my experience and knowledge.
My first job was working at the concession at the local Rec Centre! I got paid minimum wage to make coffee at 7am on Saturdays. We didn’t even have a cash register for some reason. The perks were that I could have whatever colour of hair I wanted, and I had enough downtime to get my homework done on evening shifts. I worked there all through high school.
My first job in the environmental sector was at the Experimental Lakes Area, assisting the hydrologist with data collection and surveys, while also supporting camp operations by organizing accommodations and supply runs. Camp life is really something special and I have very fond memories of this time.
I feel that unless you know your sidewalk really intimately, you’re never going to look at the pyramids and find out what they’re about. Seeing the detail around you makes you able to see large things better.”
– Gathie Falk
Sew myself a pair of overalls.
I’m not sure I’ve explored enough places to have a favourite yet! I will say, the Saguenay Fjord National Park in Quebec is really incredible.
But I also have to give a shout-out to the north shore of Lake Superior. If you are driving it and catch it at sunset, it is honestly up there with the most beautiful places on earth.
