GET TO KNOW BEN CHORNEY
I first learned about Blue Heron Environmental in 2007 when I was a goalie for the Blue Heron High Flyers, a hockey team sponsored by Blue Heron Environmental. Oddly enough, I can remember playing video games and hanging out with my teammates after hockey games in the Blue Heron office building.
My favorite part about being an environmental technologist is the wide variety of work which I participate in. One day I might be snowmobiling through 4-5 feet of snow and the next day boating… yes even in the winter!!
I also enjoy being able to work at many different and diverse work sites. Having this opportunity allows me to understand how different environmental management practices and procedures are being used within the industry.
One of the biggest myths about being in the environmental industry, in my opinion is that we are only there to report non-compliances when in reality, that’s the last thing we want.
As an Environmental Technologist, my goal is to try and prevent any type of none compliance by supporting and enhancing environmental programs.
My first job was a Public Skating Attendant for the City of Timmins when I was 15. In this role I was responsible for ensuring safety during public skating events and enforcing rules.
Do superpowers count? Telekinesis would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?
“Chaque choix a des consequences.”

This question is a difficult one, I can’t quite decide between two places. One of these places was Nunavut, CAN. during the warmer months anyway. This is one of my favorites simply because some of the views were absolutely breathtaking and unlike any I have ever seen.
The next place is Jamaica, I visited Jamaica in 2017 as part of a humanitarian trip. The purpose of the trip was to aid local families by building them homes and provide assistance in the community. It was a life changing experience!
