EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: GET TO KNOW THE TEAM
RENÉE BAUSCH
ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE CONSULTANT
Meet Renée Bausch, Environmental Compliance Consultant, a 2021 addition to our Blue Heron Environmental team.
Renée has extensive environmental knowledge and experience associated with industrial development activities such as mining, fisheries and wildlife work in northern Ontario. Renée joined Blue Heron in 2021 as part of our company’s expansion into Red Lake, Ontario. She has worked in the field of technology and biology managing natural resources for over 7 years.
Renée was formally educated in Fish and Wildlife Technology at Sir Sandford Fleming College and Marine and Fresh Water Biology at the University of Guelph. She worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources for 7 years, then decided to try the mining industry for another 7 years. This has provided her with a wealth of opportunities that allowed her to expand her skills and enhance her formal education in environmental technology, biology and water quality management.
We asked Renée Bausch to answer a few questions to help our clients get to know her better.

Working in mining, we hired Blue Heron to conduct the Environmental Coordinator course as well as participated in some of their wonderful webinars.
I reached out to Linda to see if she was interested in opening up a satellite office in Red Lake and expand the business in Northwestern Ontario and she took the bait! 😊
Helping to protect the environment is definitely #1. Assisting other companies to ensure they are staying in compliance (again to benefit the environment, our home) is #2. Finally doing something different almost daily and learning new things as I go is #3.
This one is tricky because I’m new at the job but I can see how companies may assume that we know everything, which we don’t…but…our strong team can and will definitely find the answers together to ensure everyone is on the right track.
At the age of 12 I babysat for $3/hr and by the age of 14 I started working at McDonalds. My starting wage was $4.25/hr and I was there for almost 7 years. During this time I also worked as a relief worker for families with special needs children.
In the summers, I would work at kids summer camps or conservation areas day camps. By the age of 17 I kept all 3 jobs (mostly in summer) and worked about 80 hrs/week!
Piano! I do take lessons but because life is so busy with kids, its difficult to practice. Both my kids took or are taking lessons and are WAY better than I am!
“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the world”
– John Muir
I’d love to do either a marathon or triathlon with my kids somewhere outside of Ontario/Manitoba, maybe even Canada!
Although since we are in a pandemic, I’m not sure this will happen in the next year.
My husband and I took 12 highschool students to Kenya Africa to help build a school for young girls, that experience was really cool. My husband and I also lived in New Zealand for a year and I saw the most beautiful landscapes of my life there.
