Employee Spotlight: Get to Know the Team

Natalie Bryar

Project Manager

Meet Natalie Bryar, Project Manager, a 2025 addition to our Blue Heron Environmental team.

Natalie Bryar, Project Manager with Blue Heron Environmental, holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Guelph. With over 15 years of experience in regulated industries, including mining and manufacturing, Mrs. Bryar specializes in environmental compliance, permitting, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

Mrs. Bryar brings extensive experience supporting environmental management systems, permitting, and project coordination. She has managed mine expansion and reclamation projects while ensuring regulatory requirements are met and timelines stay on track. Natalie works closely with regulators, Indigenous communities, and project teams to navigate compliance requirements and deliver practical, effective solutions.

We asked Natalie to answer a few questions to help our clients get to know her better.

We continue to share the stories of the remarkable additions to our hard-working team at Blue Heron Environmental (BHE). In the past few  years, we’ve hired a number of new professionals to help reach new heights for our business.

To showcase the people who make up Blue Heron, we sat down with team members to ask them a few questions about their professional career — and a few personal ones too.

HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT BLUE HERON ENVIRONMENTAL?

After the Blue Heron Environmental Coordinator training was recommended to me, I enrolled and found it extremely informative. Since then, I’ve worked with Blue Heron as a client on several different projects.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A Project Manager?

I love working with all types of clients, projects and experts in various fields where the learning never ends.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

I worked at a small takeout & delivery Pizza Hut covering many different roles.

IF YOU COULD PICK UP ANY NEW SKILL IN AN INSTANT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Photographic memory – imagine the time saved on making lists and notes!

GOT ANY FAVORITE QUOTES?

Not exactly a quote, but these lyrics resonate with me:

“When you feel life coming down on you,
Like a heavy weight
When you feel this crazy society,
Adding to the strain
Take a stroll to the nearest waters
And remember your place
Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came

So follow, follow the sun,
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done”

-Follow the Sun by Xavier Rudd

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO IN THE NEXT YEAR THAT YOU’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE?

I’ve never tried Stand Up Paddleboarding before – it looks like a great way to enjoy the water on a sunny day.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE EVER VISITED?

Most of my favorite memories are from my own backyard, exploring Lake Superior and the surrounding inland lakes and forests.

How do we go about pursuing a concern?

How do we go about pursuing a concern?

Community concerns about development projects are often rooted in how land is used and valued. In this Phone-A-Friend feature, we highlight how Brad Cole supports Indigenous communities in communicating environmental site concerns, strengthening consultation processes, and establishing practical, long-term protocols for engagement.
