We're in the final month of our:
Resource Industry Calendar Photo Contest!
The contest is now in its final month, and there is still time to search through your photo archives and submit your best images.
Not sure which category your photos belong in? Two categories we would especially like artists to consider are Winter and Workplace.
WORKPLACE
The Workplace category highlights the people, equipment, locations, and activities that keep Canada’s resource industries moving.
These photos may feature:
-
- Employees and crews in the field
- Active job sites
- Environmental monitoring and sampling
- Mining, forestry, exploration, hydro, or construction activities
- Specialized vehicles, machinery, and equipment
- Remote camps and work locations
- Teamwork and everyday moments from the job
Workplace photos do not need to be highly staged. Authentic images that show the scale, conditions, and human side of the work can make strong calendar entries.
PLEASE NOTE: Before submitting workplace photos, ensure you have permission from your supervisor, manager, or appropriate site representative, particularly where employees, equipment, client sites, or active work areas are identifiable.
WINTER
Summer may be here, but our calendar still needs snow.
We receive relatively few winter submissions, even though snow-covered landscapes and northern field conditions are an important part of Canada’s resource industries. In previous contests, artists submitting under the Winter category have had approximately a one-in-five chance of being featured in the following year’s calendar.
Strong winter entries may include:
-
- Snow-covered access roads
- Frosty mornings at camp or on the job site
- Frozen lakes, rivers, and landscapes
- Winter wildlife
- Fieldwork in snowy or icy conditions
- Equipment and vehicles operating in winter
- Remote northern locations
Now is a good time to look back through photos taken during the colder months and submit scenes that show what resource-industry work looks like in full winter conditions.
