Employee Spotlight: Get to Know the Team

Drew Lampman

Managemeny Systems Specialist

Meet Drew Lampman, Management System Specialist, a 2021 addition to our Blue Heron Environmental team.

Mr. Lampman joined Blue Heron Environmental in June 2021 and works from his home in Perth, Ontario. Drew holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Waterloo.

Mr. Lampman has been working in the construction, manufacturing and resource-based industries since 1995. He is a member of the Mississippi Rideau Source Water Protection Committee and President of the Tay Valley Cross Country Ski Club.

We asked Drew to answer a few questions to help our clients get to know him better.

We continue to share the stories of the remarkable additions to our hard-working team at Blue Heron Environmental (BHE). In the past few  years, we’ve hired a number of new professionals to help reach new heights for our business.

To showcase the people who make up Blue Heron, we sat down with team members to ask them a few questions about their professional career — and a few personal ones too.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST?

I enjoy the wide variety of environmental projects from permitting and closure plans, auditing to developing operation manuals which help our clients to improve their performance and reduce their risks.

WHAT IS ONE MYTH ABOUT BEING A MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST THAT YOU’D LIKE TO CLEAR UP?

Management systems do not need to be complicated. The best ones are the simplest, easy to implement and follow.

My first job during high school were officiating recreational sports like hockey, soccer and softball. Lots of rules to know just like EHS.

During the summer I worked in construction for a small electrical company installing underground utilities and restoration landscaping. Reading drawings and specifications to build what the owner needed.

IF YOU COULD PICK UP ANY NEW SKILL IN AN INSTANT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Either master Excel or wheelie my bicycle.

GOT ANY FAVORITE QUOTES?

A good motto for continuous improvement.

“If you know there’s something wrong
Why don’t you right it”.

Learn to whitewater kayak. I have gone rafting and canoeing already.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE EVER VISITED?

There are so many excellent provincial parks in Ontario, but the Madawaska River is probably my favorite.
