Employee Spotlight: Get to Know the Team

Beth Sullivan

PROJECT COORDINATOR – NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO

Meet Beth Sullivan, Project Coordinator – Northwestern Ontario, a 2023 addition to our Blue Heron Environmental team.

Ms. Sullivan is bringing with her five years of drinking water/wastewater treatment experience, half of which was spent in the mining sector.

Beth has experience in the interpretation and implementation of provincial environmental legislation as well as permit reporting. She has been the lead in the operating and troubleshooting of treatment processes and equipment while also supervising projects and site personnel.

We continue to share the stories of the remarkable additions to our hard-working team at Blue Heron Environmental (BHE). In the past couple of years, we’ve hired a number of new professionals to help reach new heights for our business.

To introduce these new Blue Heron members, we thought we’d sit down and ask them a few questions about their professional career (and a few personal ones too).

Join us in welcoming Beth to the team!

HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT BLUE HERON ENVIRONMENTAL?

I appear to be following Renée Bausch, Environmental Compliance Consultant, as this is the second time that she has provided a reference for me, and we have worked for the same team.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A Project Coordinator?

I enjoy fluttering around Northwestern Ontario as a social butterfly and providing clients with honest, efficient input and guidance.

I also love the continual learning experiences and having the ability to lean on past employment experiences to assist in resolving new challenges.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

A cabin cleaner at the age of 15 working with my mother, calling in sick was not an option.

IF YOU COULD PICK UP ANY NEW SKILL IN AN INSTANT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Patience. I am making it a life goal to become a more patient person overall, to not be in such a hurry (my hubby will appreciate reading this one).

GOT ANY FAVORITE QUOTES?

“Look with your eyes, not your mouth.”

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO IN THE NEXT YEAR THAT YOU’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE?

I am hoping to run a real barrel race and jump a real course on my little grey mare this summer and return home with all bones intact.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE EVER VISITED?

Thunder Bay has piqued my interest for several years, enough that I now reside on the outskirts but close enough to enjoy the convenience of urban living.
