Senior Project Manager
Permitting

Blue Heron Environmental is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee complex environmental permitting projects across the mining, industrial, and municipal sectors.

The successful candidate will have 10+ years of consulting experience, with proven expertise in environmental permitting, baseline studies, and project execution. You will work directly with clients, regulators, and Indigenous communities to deliver strategic, technically sound solutions that guide projects from early-stage planning through to approval and operations.

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of environmental permitting projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and client expectations.
    • Develop permitting strategies and plans, and lead the preparation of regulatory applications, including but not limited to:
        • Mine Closure Plans
        • Permits to Take Water (PTTW)
        • Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA)
        • Class Environmental Assessments
    • Complete high level environmental impact assessments to support permitting initiatives.
    • Design and coordinate execution of environmental baseline studies (surface water, groundwater, aquatics, air quality, terrestrial).
    • Assist clients with correspondence and consultation with regulatory agencies and Indigenous Communities.
    • Oversee project budgets, timelines, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables on time and within scope.
    • Oversee and mentor junior staff and contribute to internal training and knowledge sharing.
    • Support business development initiatives, including proposal writing and client relationship management.

Qualifications

Education

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, Biology, or a related discipline.

Experience

    • 10+ years in environmental consulting with project management responsibilities
    • Thorough understanding of environmental regulatory requirements in Ontario.
    • Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams and permitting projects.
    • Demonstrated experience working on mining and exploration projects, including provincial and federal environmental approvals.
    • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex environmental files.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including regulatory correspondence and technical reporting.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
