This session is an introduction to the federal MDMER, providing a review of the criteria for triggering into MDMER, tools for ensuring compliance to MDMER, recent updates and an overview of the key monitoring and reporting requirements outlined in the regulation.
In Canada, working outdoors during the winter requires a considerable amount of preparation. The northern Ontario climate presents challenges that call for added attention to safety when considering warmth, remoteness, and hydration.
During this session, students will learn best safety practices for winter fieldwork as well as tips and tools to use when preparing for your next outing, while also following industrial site requirements.
Our practical hands-on workshop is designed to provide training for environmental technicians hired by industry to monitor environmental management practices at mining operations in Ontario.
Students will experience an overview of fieldwork monitoring, environmental data entry and interpretation, environmental regulatory requirements, and compliance reporting.
The workshop is a mix of both classroom and field exercises. Proper seasonal apparel and PPE is required (i.e. CSA Approved footwear, reflective vest, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves).
