Zoe Monet
Junior Biologist
Meet Zoe Monet, Junior Biologist, a 2024 addition to our Blue Heron Environmental team.
Zoe Monet, B.A. is a Junior Biologist based out of the Sudbury office with 6 years of experience in the field of biology. Zoe has a bachelor’s degree from Laurentian University in Environmental Studies and Restoration Ecology and has also completed the Graduate Certificate program in Environmental Monitoring and Impact Assessment from Cambrian College. Through her education she gained experience with environmental monitoring, field-based ecological and wildlife surveying, data management, ecological studies and report preparation.
We asked Zoe Monet to answer a few questions to help our clients get to know her better.
We continue to share the stories of the remarkable additions to our hard-working team at Blue Heron Environmental (BHE). In the past couple of years, we’ve hired a number of new professionals to help reach new heights for our business.
To introduce these new Blue Heron members, we thought we’d sit down and ask them a few questions about their professional career (and a few personal ones too).
Join us in welcoming Zoe to the team!

HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT BLUE HERON ENVIRONMENTAL?
I heard about Blue Heron Environmental from the Environmental Monitoring and Impact Assessment program at Cambrian College where we were given an assignment that involved researching local consulting companies.
My group and I landed on Blue Heron Environmental and through that I learned about all the various aspects of the company, and I knew when my placement semester came around that’s where I wanted to apply.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A junior biologist?
Doing field work means you never know what you will see, which is one of my favorite parts of the job.
No matter what kind of field survey we are doing, there is always the chance of seeing something unexpected!
WHAT IS one myth ABOUT BEING A junior biologist that you'd like to clear up?
I just started so I am not sure yet!
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
My first job was being a dog walker for my neighborhood when I was 10.
IF YOU COULD PICK UP ANY NEW SKILL IN AN INSTANT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I would love to be able to sew well so I could make my own clothes or mend damaged clothes.
GOT ANY FAVORITE QUOTES?
”No One Will Protect What They Don’t Care About; And No One Will Care About What They Have Never Experienced”
– David Attenborough
WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO IN THE NEXT YEAR THAT YOU’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE?
I want to try winter camping! I’ve done plenty of summer and fall camping but I think experiencing camping in the winter would be exciting and would help me develop my back-country skills even more.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE EVER VISITED?
My favorite place that I’ve ever visited is Costa Rica. There is so much biodiversity there and it was interesting to learn about all they are doing to conserve it. From leaf-cutter ants to howler monkeys, we got to see so much diversity!
