Among the topics covered are a discussion of the federal and provincial legislative frameworks and their application to the resource industry, environmental permit requirements and the permitting process, the role of Aboriginal consultation on the permitting process, and an introduction to environmental management and compliance programs.

The afternoon session is an introduction to Closure Plans for mines in Ontario. Learn the various triggers for Closure Plan and Closure Plan Amendment Submissions, as well as recent practices and evolving trends regarding the practices and information requirements for filing of Mine Closure Plans/Closure Plan Amendments.

The Regulatory Enforcement session provides a review of the consequences for proponents in the Mining industry who do not adhere to the environmental laws that apply to their work sites.
In the afternoon, we introduce participants to the concept of systems for the management of environmental compliance requirements, with a focus on risk management and prioritization, as well as practical, simple and cost-effective management programs.
