One of the toughest roles of Mining Company’s Environmental Coordinator is to stay on top of existing Regulations and Amendments related to the sites activities and operations. Environmental law can be intimidating and overly-complicated, making researching them unappealing. There are many ways to learn and understand the Environmental Laws that apply to your work site.
The best way that we have found to learn and understand environmental legislation is to have an open discussion about applicable environmental laws in Mining, so we have created a monthly forum to discuss regulations and amendments, hot topics in the news, review a permit or two, or have a general discussion about the meaning of certain environmental regs.
Establishing your 2017 Environmental Requirements Calendar
Now is the time to plan for the 2017 Calendar year! Consider a 2017 ‘master calendar’ for planning your site-specific environmental monitoring programs (regulatory requirements, site specific monitoring, mock environmental spill drills, closure sampling, etc…)….to name a few.
Regardless of your environmental site requirements, a master calendar posted in your work area not only helps to keep things on track to ensure compliance, but is also a helpful tool come inspection time by regulators or during audits.
Your calendar also comes in handy for planning submissions of regulatory report due dates in case someone has made off with your handy-dandy 2017 Blue Heron Environmental Calendar that has the key reporting dates in it!
During this webinar, we’ll go over the major reporting dates in the calendar year for the Ontario regulations in the Mining Industry, as well as applicable Federal regulations. Not in the mining sector you say? No problem. Drop us a line and we can tailor a webinar to your environmental compliance needs.
This forum is applicable to those who may be new to the field of Mining and Environment, those in the field but interested in brushing up on a few regulations, and those who may have a particular interest in environmental law as it applies to mining.
