Our Environmental Coordinator Workshop offers a comprehensive overview of the environmental responsibilities that exist within the framework of a modern-day mining operation.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the workshop is to provide the participant with applicable information that pertains to Environmental Management for various stages of a Mining project, from Advanced Exploration to Closure.

Topics covered will include:

  • Applicable legislation for the Mining industry in Ontario;
  • Closure Plan requirements, including Indigenous Consultation practices;
  • Permit requirements for Mining, and their interpretation;
  • Environmental Emergencies and Response Plans;
  • Waste Management;
  • Environmental Monitoring Plans; and
  • Environmental Management Systems.

LINDA BYRON

Director/Senior Project Manager/Lead EHS/Compliance Auditor

Linda Byron, Director and Senior Project Manager of Blue Heron, has been a professional Environmental Scientist since 1990, with over 18 years in the mining industry.

Ms. Byron has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from Laurentian University, and has extensive operational expertise in the practical, real-life environmental, health and safety issues encountered in the resource industry.

Serena Maki, Training Coordinator

SERENA MAKI

Training Coordinator

Serena Maki has over 10 years of managing environmental compliance systems at a number of mining operations in Ontario. She additionally has 10 years in environmental toxicity laboratory experience.

Ms. Maki graduated from Canadore College from the Environmental Biology Technology program, completing an internship with the Ministry of Environment and Energy’s Toxicity Laboratory.

Jennifer Braun, Senior Terrestrial Biologist

JENNIFER BRAUN, M. SC

Sr. Terrestrial Biologist

Jennifer Braun is a terrestrial biologist with 15 years of consulting experience.  Her focus is on plant community classification, plant identification and species at risk. She has served as the vegetation and wetlands component lead for several large-scale environmental assessments.

Ms. Braun also has over 14 years of experience leading wildlife surveys in the field, including species at risk surveys and habitat characterization.

KATHY MORRISH

Permitting and Indigenous Community Support Specialist

Kathy-Lynn Morrish holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Environmental Biology and Technology from Nipissing University.

Kathy has more than 10 years of experience in the mining industry focused on compliance with Acts, Regulations, Permits and Authorizations from various government agencies.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS & CONSIDERATIONS

**Blue Heron Environmental follows Health Canada’s guidelines for COVID-19 safety. To comply with Ontario’s recent lockdown order, Blue Heron will be offering its upcoming training events via online platform.

Registrants who intended to attend these events in-person will be provided with instructions on how to download training resources and participate online.

We have dedicated staff on hand to provide technical support for anyone interested in a virtual “trail run” before their respective training day.
