The Electrofishing Assistant Workshop will prepare participants to take part in backpack electrofishing field surveys as a netter or assistant. The course will cover the theory and safety of using a backpack electrofishing unit, and an overview of fish identification.
Vegetation Surveys-in the Field will also be a full day, consisting of reviewing the tools to identify plants and ecosites common throughout Northeastern Ontario as well as an overview of the Ecological Land Classification (ELC) system.
Benthic Surveys-in the Field will be a full day, consisting of theoretical background on benthic macroinvertebrate surveys, followed by hands-on practice with sampling methods as per industry standards such as OBBN and OSAP.
