Blue Heron - The People:
Linda
Byron-Fortin, Co-Director of Blue Heron, is a professional
Environmental Scientist with over 15 years experience in the
environmental field. Ms. Byron-Fortin has an honours Bachelor
of Science degree from Laurentian University, and has extensive
operational expertise in the practical, real-life environmental
issues encountered in the mining industry.
Ms. Byron-Fortin has been instrumental in the implementation
of Certified Environmental Management Systems at large base-metal
mining companies in Northern Ontario, Canada, and has assisted
other resource-based industries in practical aspects of implementing
and maintaining an effective EMS.
Colin Webster, Co-Director of Blue Heron, is a registered Professional
Engineer with 14 years experience within the mining and industrial
manufacturing industries in the positions of environmental and
operations management. Mr. Webster has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Queen's University
and a Diploma in Environmental Technology from Fanshawe College.
Mr. Webster has developed and implemented comprehensive environmental risk mitigation strategies for
new and operating mine sites including site water management plans, tailings management and
operations plans and permit harmonization initiatives. He has also gained extensive experience by assisting
resource based companies at all stages of project developments ranging from the acquisition of environmental
permits, the implementation of monitoring and compliance programs and the development of closure and
reclamation plans.
